Sona Masuri (IET No. 7244, BPT 3291, and also spelled as Sona Masoori or Sona Mahsuri) is a premium lightweight, aromatic medium-grain rice. This variety is the result of a cross-breeding of the traditional rice varieties Sona and Mahsuri. Sona Masuri is predominantly cultivated in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. It is highly prized in South Indian cuisine for its delicate texture and flavor.
