A rib resection set is a specialized surgical tool kit used to remove part of a rib, primarily to treat thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS), improve surgical access (thoracotomy), or treat tumors. The instruments minimize tissue damage, enhance visualization during, and facilitate procedures such as first-rib, or scalene muscle, resection.

Rib Cutters/Shears:

Councilman or similar shears used to break or cut through the rib bone.

Periosteal Elevators:

Such as Sedillot or Doyen tools to separate the muscle and periosteum from the bone.

Rib Contractors/Approximators:

Used for holding or moving ribs.

Retractors:

Specifically designed to widen spaces between ribs, such as Finochietto retractors.
