Pomegranate — Post-harvest Handling & Quality Controls

Pomegranate quality is driven by harvest timing and immediate post-harvest cooling. After harvest, fruit undergoes sizing, defect sorting and hydrocooling to rapidly lower pulp temperature and arrest respiration. Functional Performance & Operational Efficiency

In cold-chain distribution, maintaining 2–6°C and relative humidity around 90–95% minimizes water loss and preserves aril firmness. Controlled atmosphere is not typically required for short sea/air shipments but is available for extended transit. Standardized pallet configurations streamline container loading and reduce handling time at consolidation hubs, supporting throughput for exporters and fresh produce distributors.

Use cases include retail fresh fruit sales, juicing and ingredient supply to food processors.
