This instrument uses an expandable spindle mechanism with a digital indicator to measure internal diameters. The digital electronics provide clear numeric readout, often to 0.001 mm or 0.0001 in resolution on high-precision models. The expandable anvils adapt to the bore size while maintaining concentricity when correctly fixtured.

Calibration & Compliance

Calibration requires ring gauges or master bore sets and should be documented in the CMM lab. For traceable procurement, include a calibration certificate with each instrument shipment.

Processing Insight & Technical Notes

Minimize measurement error by supporting the micrometer at two points and rotating the spindle incrementally for repeatable contact. For deeper bores, use extensions and ensure thermal stability to avoid expansion error.
