Transformer Lamination is a thin sheet of electrical steel used to manufacture the magnetic core of transformers. Laminations are generally produced from CRGO (Cold Rolled Grain Oriented) electrical steel, selected for its high magnetic permeability and low core losses.

The steel is cut into accurately sized strips, E-I pieces, step-lap laminations, or other core shapes and assembled to form the transformer core. Each lamination has an insulating coating that helps reduce eddy-current losses.

Key features: low iron/core loss, high magnetic permeability, low magnetizing current, good dimensional accuracy, high stacking factor, and efficient magnetic flux transfer.

Applications: distribution transformers, power transformers, dry-type transformers, instrument transformers, reactors, and other electrical magnetic equipment.

In short, transformer laminations form the magnetic heart of a transformer, helping achieve high efficiency, lower losses, reduced heating, and reliable operation.

CRGO (Cold Rolled Grain Oriented) Transformer Lamination is a high-grade electrical steel specially designed for manufacturing the magnetic cores of transformers. The grain structure of the steel is oriented in the rolling direction to provide high magnetic permeability and low core loss, resulting in improved transformer efficiency.

CRGO sheets or coils are precision slit, cut and punched according to the required transformer core design. The laminations are assembled in layers, often using step-lap construction, to form the transformer core. A thin insulating coating on the steel surface helps minimize eddy-current losses and heating.

CRGO laminations offer low iron loss, low magnetizing current, high stacking factor, good dimensional accuracy and excellent magnetic performance. They are widely used in distribution transformers, power transformers, dry-type transformers, instrument transformers, reactors and other magnetic equipment.

Typical HS Codes: 7225.11 for grain-oriented electrical steel of width ≥600 mm and 7226.11 for width <600 mm. Finished transformer-core parts may fall under 8504.90, depending on their condition and customs classification.
