Natural castor oil is a lipid made of glycerol bonded to three fatty acids. It acts as a building block (or natural polyol rather than a polymer itself.
has a low molecular weight than a giant chain like polymer molecules. 90% of castor oil is ricinoleic acid. Has a double bond of Hydroxyl group (-OH).
Castor oil derivatives are Polyamides, Polyesters and biodegradable Plastics.
First Grade castor oil (FSG) is used for libricants, mixed with paints and other industrial purposes.
USP Grade Castor oil is used for Pharmaceutical and medicinal purposes for its purity.
Low acid low Moisture grade is used for some special purposes.
Also there are dehydrated Castor Oil and Castor Wax. Castor wax is used in cosmetics, polishing, food packaging industry.
