Raw coco peat naturally contains high sodium and potassium levels that can cause nutrient deficiencies (calcium/magnesium lockout) and hinder plant growth.

Coco peat is washed, soaked in calcium nitrate for 24–36 hours (allowing calcium to replace potassium/sodium in the cation exchange sites), and then rinsed again.

Stable cation exchange capacity (CEC) allows for better nutrient uptake.
